I am . . . Riley Brown

I am
I am . . .

A son, the first born child in my family of five, and used to a family atmosphere.
A brother to my two sisters, and the oldest of my siblings.
A grandson whose trying not to take all the time, and all the memories, I’ve made with my grandparents for granted.
A senior in high school, not sure if I am ready for the next chapter of my life to start just yet.
A Missourian, born and raised in Springfield, MO.
Used to eating good food with my family for every holiday
A Christian, who tries to read the bible on a daily basis and go to church every Sunday.
Not sure where I want to go for college, but headed to one none the less.

I am . . .

Listening to classical music in my car on the way to school, or wherever I am going.
Trying to be a self-taught pianist and guitar player, but not very good at either of them.
A drummer, since the time I was seven.
Playing the halftime show, and pep rally music, during Kickapoo football games.
Performing on the floor of Dayton Arena with my best friends playing through a show we’ve been rehearsing for four months, and waiting to see where we rank in the world of drumline.
The Drum Captain of the Kickapoo Drumline.

I am . . .

A reader of classic novels, and accustomed to lyrical writing or romanticism.
Watching Netflix on a rainy day.
A person who prefers the cold in the winter to the heat in the summer.
Hanging out with friends on weekends and just driving around town.
Wearing a jacket anyway when the weather is either to hot or cold, with tennis shoes, shorts and a t-shirt.

  1. How fortunate you are to have grown up accustomed to a happy and close-knit "family atmosphere" with good food and good memories with your grandparents. I had the same and those are times I really cherish. I bet your little sisters are just crazy about you--I always wanted an older brother to look up to. Do you think you will drum in college? It seems to be a big part of who you have always been. I'm glad to know you, Riley! Thanks!

  2. Hey Riley. I can most definitely related to your reservations about the future. I, too, am not sure that I'm ready for what life has in store for me. As the eldest children, we have to pave the way for our younger siblings and meet all the exceptions, am I right? I also love the cold weather of winter, especially snow. You and I have quite a bit and common, it seems. Thank you for sharing!
